A nomination is a program that a horse can be either bought into through a nomination fee, or bred into through nomination of the stallion into a program, that allows the horse the opportunity to show in a certain class at a certain show. Typically these classes come with higher pay outs and more prestige. Most horses are nominatd as babies, but you can typically nominate a horse up until the entry deadline for the class/show.
Each nomination program has a different set of conditions.
Nominated means that the horse has been paid into a program and may be entered into that class at that show (please note this does not mean that the entry has been paid, only that the horse may now enter that class).
Eligible means that the horse can be paid into that nomination program, or his sire has been paid into the program and the horse is eligible to show in the class because of that. Please research each incentive program that you are interested in showing in to understand if the horse needs to be nominated individually, or simply be eligible.
At MHPH we are happy to talk to you about each nomination program and make sure that you understand if the horse you are purchasing can show in the class that you are wanting.
