VALUES CAN’T JUST BE WORDS ON A PAGE. TO BE EFFECTIVE, THEY MUST SHAPE ACTION

Our Values

We take how we care for, present, and sell our horses seriously. Whether it is a consignment that we have in, or a sale horse that we have personally developed for the market, when we sell a horse we are looking for the best match for both horse and rider. We love to see our sale horses go on to great success in their new homes! Below is a list of values that are important to us.

1. Represent Our Horses Honestly

Buying a horse is an investment, and when we sell you one we want to do so giving you all of the information that we have on a horse. We work to gather vet records, xrays, health history, pedigree information, and show records and nominations for every horse that we have for sale. We are not able to guarantee that we’ll know everything about the horse, but  we are always happy to send anything from our files on a horse. We also want to help make sure that a horse is a good fit for a rider. This means that we will sometimes recommend that a horse isn’t going to be the right fit for your skill level, riding style, or situation. We strive to match horses and riders well. We will also send each horse we sell with a packet that will outline that horses living situation, daily schedule, worming and vaccine history, as well as their current diet. We will also send the horse with a bag of its current grain so you have it to switch over if you wish. We want the horse you fall in love with here at the ranch to be the same horse you experience at home, so knowing what that horse is used to is an important part of that.

2. No Pressure Sales

We are not a used car dealer, and we don’t want you to feel like you’re at one when you are working with us. To accomplish this we keep the following policies in place
- we don’t pressure the sale. If you step up on the horse and it doesn’t feel right feel free to get off and pass. We’re happy to show you other horses or thank you for coming. On that same note, if we feel we need to step in and ask you to get off the horse because we feel that is better for the horse, we will.
- when you schedule a viewing we will always let you know if another viewing is already scheduled or if someone schedules a viewing before yours
- all viewing appointments have a 24 hour buffer. So for instance if you schedule a viewing for the next day we will not sell the horse before your viewing (please note that this does not apply at shows, at horse shows we keep a viewing appointments list as a horse may be viewed several times in a day. The first viewing has priority and if any parties in later viewings that day submit an offer we will let previous viewings know. We make every effort to be fair while giving our horses the best chance of selling.)
- we will hold a horse for up to 10 days with a 10% non refundable deposit which can be applied to the purchase price of the horse, or services here at the ranch
- after your viewing all buyers are given a 24 hour Sleep On It time to decide if they would like to move forward with purchasing the horse, or pass (again, this does not apply at horse shows if we have multiple interested parties)
- if you decide to move forward with purchasing a horse and would like to vet it you have 48 hours to schedule an appointment within the next 7 days. We will hold the horse without a deposit until its vetting (this does not apply at horse shows where vets are present)
- after vetting the horse you will have 24 hours to decide if you’d like to move forward with the purchase (we ask buyers at shows to please make a decision within 12 hours)
- if you need to arrange shipping after your purchase we offer 7 days of free board, after that you will be charged a board rate of $40/day which will include continuing to train the horse until it ships to you if you’d like

Not able to make an in person viewing? We offer virtual viewings! And of course some buyers choose to purchase the horse from video and we support that as well. A viewing is not required to purchase, we sell about 50% of our horses from their sale video.

3. Vettings Welcome

We welcome vettings! We keep a list of local equine vets on hand that we are happy to share, and we will always let you know which vets we use and which vet(s) the horse has seen that we know of. We have absolutely nothing to hide at vetting. We firmly believe that a vetting is a finding mission to let you understand the insides of the horse and to make sure any maintenance needs are something that you and your personal vet are comfortable managing. Because of this we happily share any xrays that we have on file, health history, etc. We will haul the horse to the vet of your choice within 30 miles of the ranch for free, over that we simply charge $1/mile for hauling. Your vet is also welcome here at the ranch to vet the horse if you’d like, and for weanlings and early yearlings this is encouraged. We are local to probably 30+ vets so finding a vet is usually never an issue. At horse shows the buyer of course has their choice of vets there, we’ve even had buyers bring in their personal vet to the show to privately vet the horse.

4. Service After the Sale

Your purchase does not have to mean that our relationship ends. We sell horses that we are happy to have in the barn and any horse we sell is welcome to stay in training. We also offer 30 days free training (board excluded) post sale if you or the horse needs any help getting to know each other. Buyers are encouraged to come back out to the ranch for lessons. We want you to have the best chance of success with your new equine!
Need help with your new horse's registration? Our office is open to help answer your questions and assist you with transfers. If you purchase a horse from us at a show where the association is present we will often take care of the transfer for you once payment has cleared so your new horse will come with the papers already in your name!

5. Our No Refund Policy

Sometimes a horse just doesn’t work out or you need to sell it. We do NOT offer refunds but we are happy to take any horse that we have sold back in on consignment and offer discounted rates to prior sale horses.

6. Reiner Rehoming Project

We stand behind the horses we sell for a lifetime! Read more about the Reiner Rehoming Project here.
